The HSRL always welcomes submissions for new tracks. If you want to build a track for the league, this guide aims to help you build a successful one!
Once you come up with the layout and theme of your track, we recommend you follow these parameters to ensure that your track is enjoyable for everyone.
To preface this, we encourage you to use ROBLOX Studio to create your race track. If you have built a basic layout of your track in Astrocraft to test before building the rest in Studio, message @rensaken on Discord for help to get your track assembled and ready for testing.
2000 × 2000 STUDS
You must build a track that is as large, or larger than a 2000 × 2000 stud square. Submissions that do not follow this are likely to be rejected.
FOR REFERENCE: ROD CANYON IS 2000 × 2000
These dimensions are relatively similar to tracks like Rod Canyon.
Any track that follows the recommended parameters will be considered an easy or medium track.
[C ▰▱▱▱] or [B ▰▰▱▱]
≥ 110 STUDS C ▰▱▱▱
≥ 90 STUDS B ▰▰▱▱
70-150+ STUDS
These dimensions are relatively similar to those of Mirage.
Any track that follows the minimum closely will be considered a difficult track.
[A ▰▰▰▱] or [R ▰▰▰▰]
~80 × ~50 STUDS A ▰▰▰▱ or R ▰▰▰▰
Feel free to play around with width/height — variation is encouraged.
❯❯❯ CORNER VARIATION
Corners should feed naturally into each other; where in a set of consecutive corners, a corner exit sets up perfectly into the entry of another corner.
Refrain from repetitive layouts. A track consisting of constant 90 degree turns is mechanical and kills momentum, so experiment with it; add a mixture of various high-speed sweepers, technical chicanes, and tight hairpins.
❯❯❯ ELEVATION CHANGES
Tracks should experiment with elevation changes as it makes the track more interesting to fly through. These elevation changes shouldn't be jarring, however they should still be significant enough to notice. Examples of elevation changes can be found on Tulcanne Valley and Bethea (whenever the rework comes out).
❯❯❯ OBSTACLES
Obstacles can make for an interesting track, but if you want to add them, ensure that they are not overly intrusive to the point where flow can be interrupted. See Ruins of Cydonia for a good example of obstacle placement, and Pitfall for a bad example.
❯❯❯ HYDRUS THEMING
Not necessarily related to gameplay, but we encourage you to theme your track after planets/environments in the Hydrus system to be consistent with the rest of our track list (Terra, Acwai, Myrl, Gauus, Erios).
