LG-X Safety Precaution
A PILOT'S 'LAST GASP'
A PILOT'S 'LAST GASP'
Developed by Hades International, the LG-X 'Last Gasp' is a device connected to HS300 ships that aims to help increase the survivability rate of a pilot during a high speed crash.
If a pilot cannot safely eject before a crash, the on-board computer will activate Last Gasp - a last resort system for pilot survival. The main device will disable all input, then activate impact reduction systems on board, aiming to cushion the pilot as much as possible. These systems are calibrated by the computer while it analyzes the impending crash.
A different computer maneuvers the ship into a position that would lower the impact of the crash, increasing the chance of survival. For the few instances where the LG-X device was activated in the HS300 series, the chance of survival ranged from 2% to 6%.
On rare occasions, the LG-X computer would find a way to escape the crash, in which the spacecraft would fly out of the race zone and make its way back to the paddock, where engineering teams and medical staff would immediately rush over to analyze and ensure the stability of both the pilot & their craft.
As of present, LG-X has been activated in a crash scenario five times and has succeeded in saving the life of one pilot.
